500m = 0.3miles x 4 = 1.2 Miles [ Rounded down to 1 Mile ]!

I'm Running 1,000 Miles in 2009
For every mile that I run I'll give 50p to Unicef
For every mile that I fall-short I'll give £1 to Unicef
Initially I'd planned to substitute Swimming or Cycling "Miles" but it seems a bit of a cop-out. So, to confirm, I aim to run 1,000 Miles in 2009! I think December could be pretty run-heavy!

Still not convinced by this substitution approach. But maybe I'm just jealous that it's January and your swimming in the sea.
